INSSA Revved Up for 2009
Spokane, WA (April, 2009)
What’s the best way to chase away the winter blues? How
about a little sunshine and a whole lot of ground pounding,
bumper to bumper racing action……”super” late model style.
The Inland Northwest Super Stock Association (INSSA)
Super Late Model Series (www.inssa.org)
gets back on the track this Saturday night, April 25th,
at State Line Speedway (www.raceidaho.com).
Starting its sixth season, INSSA kicks
off 2009 with not one or two, but three venues on the
schedule. May 9th marks the return to Big Sky
country and Montana Raceway Park (MRP) (www.montanaracewaypark.com)
for the 2nd Annual Kokanee Battle of the Borders
MT vs. ID. Last year’s event started 26 cars on the
high-banked quarter mile oval and was won by INSSA’s
Dave Garber.
Six events at home track State Line
Speedway, in addition to the 10th annual running
of the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 (July 31st –
August 2nd), will keep local fans happy on the
Idaho side of the border and on the Washington side, INSSA
makes its return to the half mile oval in Airway Heights
featuring two events at Spokane County Raceway (SCR) (www.spokanecountyraceway.com).
Improvements at SCR’s oval and drag strip are ongoing in an
effort to bring the Motorsports Park back to the premier
facility it was meant to be.
Two-time INSSA champion (2007-08) Dave
Garber will face some stiff competition in 2009, as former
INSSA champions Dan Garber and Kevin Richards return to the
fray to try to knock him out of the top spot. Also in the
hunt will be Shelby Thompson, chasing his first INSSA
championship title. With three wins under his belt in 2008,
Thompson returns full-time since his rookie year in 2004,
and is certain to be a contender.
Along with regulars Rusty Webb, Jack
Morse, Dan Yonke, Jessie Taylor, Corey Allard, Billy Belton,
Steve Parrish, Rob Reinbold, Jeff Fenton, Ross Cooper, Greg
McKinley, Jeff Little and JD Moses, INSSA anticipates a few
old and new faces throughout the season. Running for Rookie
of the Year honors, Andrew Zimmer makes his full-time INSSA
debut; Kameron McKeehan returns to competition after winning
several Northwest Late Model 4 championships; and Kit
VanBuskirk also throws his hat in for the title. Expected
to drop in for a couple races this season will be former
Late Model Challenge Series champion, Mike Zamora.
Out of town entrants for the season opener include MRP
regulars, Bodie Morton and Mark Owens. The Montana boys
will stop by several times throughout the season.
Don’t miss out on the fierce
competition….the super late model action…..the
excitement….and the fun starting this weekend at State Line
Speedway. Qualifying this Saturday will be an hour earlier
than usual at 5:00pm with racing at 6:00pm.
