POST FALLS, IDAHO – April 27, 2008 – A mid race
pit stop and battle to the front of the pack netted the win for
Spokane’s
Shelby Thompson during the 100-lap INSSA Super Stock Series
opener at Stateline Speedway
Saturday
night.
Thompson, winner of
the fast dash, sat steady mid pack in the race until a mid race
red flag and pit stop opportunity, with new crew chief Kevin
Richards, set him up for a late race charge to the lead.
Using multiple
grooves, Thompson tracked down early race leader and defending
series champion Dave Garber after a restart for the pass and
lead. Thompson held a huge margin at the finish. The win was
Thompson’s first in the series at Stateline Speedway after a
string of runner up and top three finishes.
Garber finished
second. Heat winner Rusty Webb battled back after an early race
spin to finish third. Billy Belton finished fourth followed by
dash winner Bodie Morton of
Montana.
Corey Allard who ran
in second before making contact with a slower car rallied to
sixth. Greg McKinley, heat winner Jessie Taylor, Dan Yonke and
rookie Andrew Zimmer rounded out the top ten. INSSA returns to
Stateline
May 31.
Ephrata’s Jeff Hector
held off a last lap charge from returning champion Jason Majors
to take the 35-lap Northwest Pro 4 Trucks main event win. Hector
also won the A heat.
Majors finished
second, Jim Milligan third. Bobby Baker and Kevin Bell, a dash
winner, completed the top five. Carl Scheffler won a dash, Andy
Brown won a heat.
The Tarr family or
racers dominated the Hobby Car division. Bothers Brycen, Ryen,
and Treven took the wins. Treven set fast time, won the dash,
and held off hard charging JC Ward in the 30-lap main event for
the wins.
Brycen captured the A
heat victory and finished third. Ryen won the B heat and took
seventh in the main.
Other strong Hobby
finishers included Billy Swift, Kyle Kennedy, and Bob Flagor.

Volz Sr, Frank Volz Jr, Al Slinker, Lenora McMurtry, and George
Todd were top drivers showcased during Golden Wheels and West
