Thompson Wins INSSA Round
Three
POST FALLS, IDAHO June 1, 2008 Fast qualifier Shelby Thompson passed
race leader Andy Brown early in the opening laps of the INSSA 100-lap
race at Stateline Speedway to win his third victory in the series and
second straight at Stateline Speedway Saturday night.
Thompson also won the fast heat for the series third round of the
season. The race had few cautions with only single car spins. Thompson
was unchallenged on the restarts. Point leader Dave Garber finished
second followed by Brown and Rusty Webb who battled for positions
throughout the race.
Corey Allard and rookie Andrew Zimmer won dashes. Jeff Little won the b
heat. INSSA returns to Stateline Speedway June 14.
Ron Rohde set fast time and for the Late Model 4s and held off John
Jackson thru early race mishaps to win the 25-lap main event. Jackson
finished second with early race leader Doug McMillan and Spokanes
Travis Allen rounding out the top five.
Kameron McKeehan won the heat. Paul McCarthy took the trophy dash. Late
Model 4s competitors return to Stateline Speedway for the Northwest Pro
4 Nationals race June 21. Drivers from the FSCRA of Western Washington
and the Northwest Pro 4 Alliance will also field entries for the event.
Ken Iverson took the fast dash win and top spot in the 25-lap Early
Stock main event. Mechanical problems plagued many teams thru the night.
Allen Tuckness and Brian Cobs won heats with Will Behar taking the B
dash.
Brycen Tarr picked up another with for the Tarr family racing team
holding off dash winner Billy Swift for the win in the 25-lap main event
for the Hobby Cars. Tarr also set fast time. Brother Treven Tarr won the
heat.
Gary Hommel, Kyle Kennedy, and JC Ward finished in the top five.
Next Saturday the Northwest Modifieds return to Stateline Speedway for
the annual running of the 100-lap Gary Miller Memorial Modified Race.
The event draws a stout field of competitors looking for the trophy in
honor of past competitor and modified supporter Gary Miller.
Blaine Sneva, Tim Sawyer both past winners of the race, Chris Ochs and
Frankie Volz Jr. are expected entries. Early Stocks will also race.
Events start at 6pm. Admission is $12.75 for adults; kids under six are
free.
The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever continues
Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of the Road Runners, Fever
4s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to Pass division. Adults are just
$5.75; kids under the age of nine accompanied by adults are free.
