Lewis Wins Idaho 200
POST FALLS, IDAHO – August 6, 2007 – Bothell, Washington late
model driver Gary Lewis continued his summer of victories
winning the 2007 NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200, Sunday afternoon at
Stateline Speedway in Post Falls.
Lewis, coming off multiple wins including the recent Montana
200, passed early race leader Darrell Midgley of Canada before
the 100-lap break to hold off defending race winner Kevin
Richards at the finish line for the top prize and $4500 winner’s
check.
Lewis fought off a determined Richards on the restart of the
final 100-lap segment. Richards, who led laps early in the race
but had to pit after a tire went down following a flagging error
on track, looked for the way around the winning driver but was
unable to carry enough momentum to pass on the high side exiting
turn two on multiple occasions.
Lewis quickly darted past lapped traffic in the closing laps
with Richards in chase for the win. South Sound Speedway
champion Wes Rhodes patiently worked his up past the eight-car
invert to finish third.
Late Model Challenge Series winner Garrett Evans finished fourth
the last car on the lead lap. Spokane’s Shelby Thompson rallied
back from an early race accident and multiple spins to finish
sixth. Montana’s Agni Howell, Christian Roeder, Bodie Morton and
two-time Idaho 200 winner John Gamble rounded out the top ten.
The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever
continues every Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of
the Road Runners, Fever 4’s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to
Pass division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine
accompanied by adults are free.
Saturday the Northwest Outlaw Street Stock Series returns for
the final time in 2007. Winged Sprint cars and Early Stocks are
also scheduled to compete. Adult admission is $10; kids under
the age of six are free.
