INSSA Ready for
Hooters 100 Qualifier ~ Day 1 of the Idaho 200 Weekend
A strong,
competitive field of cars have pre-entered for this Friday’s Inland
Northwest Super Stock Association (INSSA) Hooters 100 qualifier. INSSA
is very excited to have Hooters Owl Club & Casino back for the first of
two sponsored events in its second season with the series. In addition
to the event sponsorship, the ever popular “Hooter Girls” will also be
in attendance for Day 1 ~ Duel for the 200 ~ en route to the 8th Annual
NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200.
The event is set
up as in previous years, with INSSA running the Friday night qualifier.
The top 6 finishers electing to run in the 200 will advance to Sunday’s
event. The ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series (AW LMCS) returns to
State Line Saturday night for their Duel for the 200 qualifier. The top
6 finishers electing to run in Sunday’s event will also advance.
Additional cars will attempt to secure positions for the 200 on Sunday
through the Last Chance Qualifier.
INSSA regulars
like Dave Garber, Corey Allard, Jeff Little, Andy Brown, Jack Morse, and
John Mandere, to name a few, will be attempting to tie up the top 6
transfer positions from Friday night, as well as the $1,500 first place
prize money.
Kevin Richards,
2005 INSSA Champion and last year’s Idaho 200 winner, running a limited
INSSA schedule this season, will be back to defend his title along with
his McClintock & Turk team car and two-time Idaho 200 winner, John
Gamble. Richards, who posted an INSSA win earlier this season, and
Gamble will attempt to secure transfer positions in Friday night’s
event.
Dan Garber, 2004
INSSA Champion, running a limited schedule in 2007, will be back for
another attempt at the 200. Garber, who led 95 of the first 100 laps,
appeared to have a car for the win in last year’s 200, until tangling
with a lapped car, which took both he and then runner-up Bodie Morton
from Kalispell, Montana out of contention.
Morton, along with
Montana Raceway Park regulars, Agni Howell, Troy Schweigert and possible
a few others, are expected for Sunday’s 200, and will also attempt to
qualify with INSSA on Friday night.
Dave Garber holds
a slim point’s lead in the INSSA standings over second place driver,
Corey Allard. Allard, in just his second year of driving, has been
knocking on Garber’s back door this season and is eager to chalk up his
first INSSA win. Jeff Little, sitting just 15 points out of second
place, is also looking for his first win. Rookie Greg McKinley sits in
fourth place, with Andy Brown rounding out the top five.
Friday night under
the lights – you don’t want miss it! A prelude to Sunday’s Festival of
Speed, where the best in the northwest go head to head for some great
racing action.
