Brown Takes INSSA Win, Garber
Championship

POST FALLS, IDAHO – September 22, 2007 – Andy Brown picked up
his first main event win of the season, winning the INSSA Hooter
Hot Wings 100 at Stateline Speedway as the series wrapped up its
2007 season. Brown became the sixth different winner of the
season as Dave Garber clinched the championship Saturday night.
Brown passed race leader Rusty Webb on lap 42 after a 20-lap
battle. Webb, who took the lead on a lap 11 restart from Jeff
Little, had held off Brown until sliding loose and scraping the
backstretch wall. The slip allowed Brown to carry momentum
around for the pass and lead to the checkers.
Webb rallied to finish second followed by championship runner-up
Corey Allard. Jack Morse finished forth with Montana’s Cory
Wolfe rounding out the top five.
The race was marred by a lap one incident involving five cars
including point leader Dave Garber. Garber, quickest qualifier
of the night, suffered trailing arm damage in the accident
knocking him out of the race on lap 20. But his start locked in
the championship, his first since 2001.
Brown also won the fast dash along with Greg McKinley. Webb won
the fast heat with Jesse Taylor taking the B heat.
INSSA officials for on track rules violations disqualified
Hayden, Idaho’s Darren Rupinski, who appeared to have the
fastest car in the race. Rupinski made contact with Allard and
Webb while moving into second knocking loose body panels and
fenders.
Parts of the body littered the track bringing out a caution for
debris on lap 84.
Officials waved a mechanical black flag for parts of the car
dangling behind the right front tire. Instead of pitting, giving
up second place positions, Rupinski tried to knock the piece
off, including rubbing against the front stretch wall. He later
pitted, but was penalized a lap for speeding through the pits
and then later disqualified.
Nathan Fleury dominated the Street Stock championship races
setting fast time winning a heat and passing point leader Randy
Lasswell with 15-laps to go to win the 30-lap main event. With
the wins Fleury still fell short of the championship by a slim
9-point margin to Lasswell.
Charlie Fiorino finished third, Craig Felix fourth. Lasswell won
the dash. After leading the first part of the main event before
contact and finishing fifth, Patrick Banks Jr. won the B heat.
Ned Pennington secured his first ever Stateline Speedway
championship in the Hobby Car class finishing third in the
30-lap finale. Heat winner Treven Tarr passed brother Brycen
Tarr for the win. Billy Swift finished fourth followed by dash
winner Monty Collison.
Kyle Kennedy won the fast dash. Ryen Tarr won the B heat.
