Mandere Pulls off Upset at Hooters 100
POST FALLS, IDAHO – July
9, 2006 – John Mandere’s second place run Saturday night at Stateline
Speedway for the Inland Northwest Super Stock Series Hooters 100 turned
in to one of the season’s biggest upsets as he took advantage of the
race leader’s mechanical failure to win his first ever feature.
Mandere, who only had
one top three finish since beginning racing in 2001, inherited the lead
while running second when race leader Andy Brown exited the track on lap
86 with a wheel that had vibrated loose.
Mandere held off
multiple charges from Dash and Heat winner Mike Behar to take the win.
Jack Morse finished third after leading the first thirty laps. Jeff
Little and Dan Garber rounded out the top five.
Corey Allard won the B
dash, Ross Copper picked up the win in the B Heat. The Inland Northwest
Super Stock Series returns for their final race before the NAPA Auto
Parts Idaho 200 weekend July 22 for the Windermere Foundation 100.
Dan Johnston claimed
another Hobby Stock win, holding off Rob Ballard and Brian Husk in the
25-lap main. Tysen Akers and Tyson Wilcox won the dashes. JC Ward was
unable to finish the main after his fuel tank ignited into flames
bringing out a red flag so officials could extinguish his trunk and
bumper.
Ballard leads the Hobby
points with Husk and Johnston in trail heading into next weekends
mid-season championship.
Justin Robideaux won the
Early Stock main event over Ken Iverson and Doug McMillen.
The wild, wacky,
unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever continues Wednesday at 6pm
with Fever 4’s, Road Runners, plus the cars and superstars of the Bump
to Pass division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine
accompanied by adults are free.
The Northwest Modifieds
return to Stateline Speedway Saturday night for their second race of the
season at Stateline Speedway with the ICAR Series and Hobby cars Mid
Season Championship. Coeur d’ Alene’s Blain Sneva won the NW Modifieds
last race in May. Time trials start at 6pm racing at 7:30. Family
admission, two adults and upto to three children under the age of 16,
are $30.
